Ingredients:
- Black grapes – 1 kg
- Strawberries - 250 gms
- Pomegranate seeds - 1 cup (from 1 whole pomegranate)
- Sugar – 500 gm (The amount of sugar you add depends on the sweetness of the fruits as well as your personal preference - if you like your wine sweet add a bit more sugar (plus 150 gms))
- Yeast – 1 teaspoon
- Water boiled and cooled – 2 litres ( 8 cups of 8ounce each)
- Wheat kernels (gothambu ) – 1 tablespoon
Method:
Boil and let the water cool completely.
Wash the fruits well drain it and then remove the stems and leaves and keep aside.
Take a clean big glass jar (if you don't have glass jars you can use plastic jars with lids).
Add the grapes along with sugar into the jar and crush it well using your fingers.
Add in the pomegranate seeds and strawberries and crush it gently until some of it is broken.
Add yeast , wheat kernels and cooled water and mix well.
Cover the jar tightly with the lid. Store it, in a dark place . Keep it aside for 7 days.
On the 8th day stir it with a wooden spoon for 2 minutes . close the jar and keep aside .
Repeat the process for the next 14 days .
Let it without stirring on the 15th and 16th day . By now a total of 24 days would have passed since you started with the wine preparation .
On the 24th day, drain the clear wine and leave behind the sediment in the bottom.
Bottle it clean dry glass bottles,you can start using it immediately .
The flavor of the wine becomes better as it ages so let the wine rest for a month or 2 before serving.
