Ingredients :
Banana Stem cleaned and chopped fine - 2 cups
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Green chillies chopped - 2
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
salt - to taste
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coconut /vegetable oil - 1 tbsp
Onion chopped fine - 1
curry leaves - 1 spring
Method:
Heat oil in a frying pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
Add the green chillies, onion,curry leaves and turmeric powder and saute for a minute
Add in the banana stem and salt to taste .
stir and sprinkle some water , cover and cook for 5 minutes.
Open the lid , add grated coconut and mix well.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes and turn the flame off .
Serve with rice.
Note : you can add cooked green gram also to this thoran along with the grated coconut .
