Pavakka Pachadi / Bittergourd in Yogurt Gravy

  1. Bitter gourd - 2 seeds removed and chopped into small pieces.
  2. Green chillies - 5 cut into rings
  3. Sour curd/yogurt - 2 cups
  4. Onion - 1 medium cut into small pieces
  5. Curry leaves - 2 springs
  6. salt - to taste
  7. Oil - 5 tbsp
  8. mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Heat 4 tbsp of oil in a small frying pan and add in the chopped bitter gourd and salt to taste and stir fry until it is brown (This may take up to 15 minutes).
Drain the oil and keep the bitter gourd aside.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in another frying pan and add in the mustard seeds.
Add in the chopped onion,curry leaves and green chillies and fry for 2 minutes.
add in the fried bitter gourd and stir well.
Turn the flame off and pour the beaten curd in and mix well.
Serve with rice.
