Methi Dal / Lentils with fenugreek leaves

I had sprouted some methi seeds and dropped them in a pot of soil .It grew really well with no care at all.This is the first time I am cooking with Methi leaves. It has a very slight bitter taste really not noticeable,more over a very nice flavour.

  1. Toor dal - 1 cup
  2. Methi leaves - 1 bunch leaves picked
  3. Green chillies - 3 slit
  4. Tomatoes - 1 chopped
  5. Onion - 1 chopped
  6. garlic - 1 clove chopped
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/4'th tsp
  8. Mustard seeds,curry leaves,Oil and sliced shallots - for tadka
Pressure cooked toor dal with water .
Then heat oil and add mustard seeds and sliced shallots and garlic.When it browns add sliced onions , green chillies and tomatoes and saute until cooked (added a bit of turmeric powder also).
Add the chopped methi leaves and saute for some time .
Add in the cooked dal and mix and bring to a simmer.
goes well with both rice and chappathi.
