  1. Green gram - 2 cups soaked
  2. Coconut - 1 cup
  3. Jaggery - 8 to 10 pieces
  4. Cardamom - 2 crushed
  5. Maida -1 cup
  6. Water - as needed for a thick batter
  7. Oil - to deep fry
  8. Salt- to taste


Pressure cook the soaked green gram for 1 whistle make sure it does not get overcooked.
Heat the jaggery with a few tbsp of water to melt it .Strain to remove any impurities.
Boil this jaggery until it starts thickening - add the grated coconut and cardamom and saute it until the becomes slightly dry.
Add the cooked green gram and saute until dry.Add a tbsp of Ghee if desired.
Keep this mixture aside to cool.
Make a thick batter of Maida,salt and water.
Form balls out of the green gram mixture and keep aside.
Heat oil in a frying pan .
Dip the green gram balls into the batter and deep fry in hot oil.
