- Milk Powder - 1 cup
- Maida /All purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Milk - 2 tbsp plus more as needed to form the dough
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Baking soda - 1 pinch
- Baking Powder - 1/4 th tsp
- Water - 2 cups
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Cardamom - 3 crushed
- Ghee or Oil - to deep fry the Jamuns
Method:
Combine the milk powder,Maida, baking powder and baking soda .Add in the 1 tbsp Ghee and milk as needed and knead to a soft dough.Keep this covered for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile prepare the Sugar syrup by boiling 2 cups of water and 2 cups of Sugar with the crushed cardamom simmer for 10 minutes.
Form small smooth balls of the dough and keep them aside.Heat oil/Ghee to deep fry the Jamuns.Oil should be medium hot(If too hot the outside browns too quickly and the insides stay uncooked, If the oil is not hot enough the Gulab Jamuns may break when you fry them).Fry the Jamuns until they are a dark brown in colour .Drop the fried Jamuns into the hot syrup and let it soak for 30 minutes.Serve Hot or cold .
