Chemeen Peera /Shrimp with coconut



Ingredients:
  1. Shrimp - 1 cup cleaned and deveined
  2. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  3. Cocoum - to taste
  4. Red chilly powder - 2.5 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Ginger - 1/2 inch piece crushed
  7. Garlic - 5 cloves crushed
  8. Shallots - 3 crushed.
  9. Curry leaves - 2 springs
  10. Salt - to taste
Method:
Mix all the ingredients together .
Add 1/2 cup water - the water that you soak the cocum/tamarind in should be sufficient.
Cook until most of the water is absorbed and the shrimp is cooked.
Serve with rice.
Tastes better cooked in a manchatty (earthernware pot) and the next day.
