Chemeen /Shrimp Peera


Ingredients:
  1. Shrimp (smaller ones are better than Jumbo sized shrimp) - 2 cups peeled and de veined
  2. Shallots - 3 sliced
  3. Green chillies - 5 slit
  4. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  5. Curry leaves - 1/2 tsp
  6. Cocum/Kudampuli - 2 or 3 pieces soaked in 1/2 cup water (to taste)
  7. Ginger - 1/2 inch piece crushed
  8. Garlic - 5 cloves crushed
  9. salt - to taste
Method:
Add all of the ingredients into a pan (For best taste use a manchatty) and additional 1/4 cup of water.Cover and cook for 15 minutes .
Check for salt , spice and sourness and adjust as necessary .
Cook covered on a low flame for additional 10 minutes.
When it is done there should be very little gravy .
Serve with rice.
