Kappa kuzhachathu / Mashed Tapioca



Ingredients:
  1. Kappa - 3 tubers
  2. Grated coconut - 1 cup
  3. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  4. Green chillies - 2
  5. Garlic - 2 cloves
  6. cumin seeds/jeera - 1/2 tsp
  7. Curry leaves - 2 springs
  8. Shallots - 3
  9. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  10. Oil - 2 tsp

Method:
Make a coarse paste of coconut,turmeric powder,1 shallot, garlic,green chillies and cumin seeds.

Peel cut and boil the kappa in salted water until it is cooked well.

Drain the water from the cooked Kappa (1/2 cup water should be retained)
Add the coconut mixture into the cooked Kappa mixture while it is still very hot and mash it together.
Cover and leave for few minutes.
Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds and fry the curry leaves and remaining sliced shallots until it is brown.
Pour this over the mashed Kappa and mix well.

Serve with Fish curry,meat curry or mulaku chutney
